Submerging in heated water is good for the body, mind and spirit. In fact, for centuries hydrotherapy has been used to treat a variety of health and illness.
Hot Tubs and portable spas are terrific instruments for getting the true hydrotherapy experience, but also great for simply relaxing and feeling great.
Whether you have arthritis, chronic back pain, an old sports injury or simply need a better night’s sleep, a soak in the warm, massaging water can help.
Hot Spring Spa’s are all natural solutions for reducing stress, relaxing and rejuvenating mind and body.
Arthritis Benefits
As many as 50 million Americans suffer from some form of arthritis or joint condition. With pain and discomfort, inflammation and swelling, it’s not uncommon to experience limited flexibility, loss of motion and function.
Using a hot tub to soak the joints is an easy and convenient way to get instant relief. With warm water to relax the muscles, buoyancy to take pressure off the joints and massage to stimulate the skin, a hot tub is the ideal environment for relief. And, from the comforts of home, a hot tub is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Sleep Benefits of Hot Tubs
Using a hot tub is also an effective way to improve sleep. Studies confirm that it’s the drop in temperature after getting out of a hot tub that makes the transition from awake to sleep easier and more successful.
In only 15 minutes, a soak in the hot tub at approximately 103 degrees Fahrenheit an hour before bed can make falling asleep faster and staying asleep easier.
The fact is, spending time in a hot tub is an all natural way to induce sleep. It’s quiet, relaxed and the perfect environment for calming the mind and body in preparation for sleep. Unlike prescription medication which can leave you feeling groggy or unaware, a hot tub is all natural, safe and ultra relaxing.
The National Sleep Foundation conducted a poll and found that approximately 132 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders including mild to chronic insomnia, pauses in breathing and snoring.
The poll found that 48 percent of women and 38 percent of men suffer from insomnia more than one night a week. This number is on the rise as evidenced by the growing number of sleep disorder centers across the nation (approximately 3,000 in the U.S. today).
Statistically, almost 60 percent of men and women suffer from insomnia or another sleep related condition at least once a week. With over 3,000 sleep disorder centers in the U.S. alone, that number is expected to rise. Plus, insomnia is the second most prevalent reason people visit the doctor according to a sleep therapy center in Louisville, Ky.
The Hydromassage Experience
With heat, buoyancy and massage, hot tubs work combine three factors, creating a relaxing, soothing hydro massage experience.
Immersion in the water of a hot tub causes blood vessels to dilate which increases circulation. Buoyancy, or that feeling of weightlessness reduces body weight by as much as 90 percent, relieving pressure on muscles and joints.
High powered jets combine warm water and air to create massaging action. The stream of “activated” water relaxes and loosens tight muscles while stimulating the production of endorphins, or “feel good” hormones.
